About the Author Thomas R. Baechle, EdD, CSCS,*D; NSCA-CPT,*D, is the executive director of the National Strength exercise equipment review and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certification Commission. He is the cofounder exercise equipment review and past president of NSCA exercise equipment review and its former director of education. In 1985 he was named the NSCA’s Strength exercise equipment review and Conditioning Professional of the Year. Baechle is also the chair of the exercise science exercise equipment review and athletic training department at Creighton University exercise equipment review and the former exercise leader of their phase III cardiac rehabilitation program. He has received numerous awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the NSCA exercise equipment review and the Excellence in Teaching Award from Creighton University. For 16 years, Baechle competed successfully in weightlifting exercise equipment review and powerlifting, setting various Midwest records. For more than 20 years he coached collegiate powerlifting teams, strength-trained athletes, exercise equipment review and taught weight training classes. Baechle was the force behind the creation of the CSCS exercise equipment review and NSCA-CPT examinations that are offered through the NSCA Certification Commission. In addition to Fitness Weight Training, Baechle has authored 10 books that have been translated into 10 languages, including the popular Weight Training: Steps to Success. Roger Earle, MA, CSCS,*D; NSCA-CPT,*D, is the associate executive director exercise equipment review and the director of exam development for the NSCA Certification Commission.
